After 3 intense week working on my studies, going through 6 exams in 6 straight (business) days, I deserved a day in the mountain. Alex was back from his home in Bulgaria, and he came along for a crazy day in this Huge resort called "Les portes du Soleil". Its huge because it consists in 12 stations, half of them in Switzerland, and the other half in France. The resorts are situated in the french-swiss alps close to the famous Mont-Blanc.
Have a look at the Map of the resort
It had been snowing with lots of wind the two previous days, so lots of powder was available on that tuesday morning! We heard the avalanche bombing on the mountain in the morning, for safety issues...
A little vid to start the day:
We start the day with a major collision. I turn abruptly in the deep snow and Alex, going very fast, rides right into me. New cuts on my board, not enough to bring me down on that incredible day. Getting ourselves together after the hit:
A bit of fog in the morning, but the view is spectacular
Going up, we plan our way down
Some pictures from the border:
Switzerland:
France:
Then, around 13h, we see the fog building up in the valley...this is the last time we saw the sky for the rest of the day...
Then, all we could see was: Nothing!
The last runs were in total fog, but the snow was great and we made some of the best powder runs I've ever experienced!
In vidéo!
After a big day on the mountain, a couple beers in the train to celebrate one of the best powder day ever!! Thighs deep powder!!!
Alex is now back in Canada, so, until next time bro!
